Feeling itchy to go fishing and savor a cigar, I was browsing the “brag book” gallery over at West Branch guide Wayne Aldridge’s website today when I found a keeper that should be commented here.

Last year’s Hendrickson hatch on the West Branch, no-kill stretch just below Dannekar’s/Barking Dog Pool. Caught him nymphing the fast water in the seam where the side channel comes back into the main channel on a # 14 Hare’s Ear nymph. It was still early in the day and the Hendricksons were yet to hatch, but those nymphs are very active all morning getting ready to hatch and the fish are on the them. This fish measured a true 20″. This was on our “bonus float day” on Wednesday of last year and 3 days later Lindy hooked a true monster that could have eaten this fish (!!!) in almost the same spot on the Saturday after our float.
